COMMENTARY
12/8/2013 9:15AM - The first week of the regular season is complete! The biggest surprise was stated yesterday - the fact that every one of the four undefeated preseason teams lost. And 4 out of the 6 locations who lost every preseason game won Week 1! So yeah...very unpredictable in the sense that one storm/event can reverse a lead. Harrisburg and Providence took joint position as the top scorers of Week 1 with each scoring 30.7 points.
12/7/2013 2:15PM - Yesterday was "moving day" for many. 11 out of 16 games the team losing (or tied, in the case of Taunton-Montpelier) before Friday came back and took the lead outright. Impressive and shows how a single storm can change the tide in a matter of one day. The Mid-Atlantic cities did especially well - Central Park, Philadelphia, Trenton, Washington D.C. among those. Surprisingly, all 4 locations who remained undefeated in the preseason (Bradford, JFK Airport, Pittsfield, and Portland) are losing right now with a day left to go. Who would have thought?
12/6/2013 11:40PM - @NEXWL: 3 matches separated by <1 point, most notably Taunton-Montpelier who are TIED at 9.9 apiece. Tonight's storm crucial!
The other 2 close battles with 2 days to go: Worcester 9.1 - Pittsfield 9 and Willimantic 6.7 - Windsor Locks 6.3 #NEXWL
12/4/2013 10:35PM - So far, the first 3 days have been relatively quiet but the end of the week should be more exciting with a shot of cold diving into the Northeast and rain and snow arriving Thursday-Friday. It will be a furious finish to the week!
12/2/2013 8:30PM - Providence surges ahead of JFK Airport after 0.69" of rain dropped thanks to a stalled coastal front. Portland and Boston were also beneficiaries from rainfall. A few other locations received rain yesterday but those three stood out the most. Awaiting observations from Taunton and Willimantic... seems like the data is delayed. Hopefully the issue gets resolved soon. The second half of week looks to be active as a low is expected to cross over the Great Lakes. Should be the first decent "storm" of the season!
12/1/2013 4:30PM - This is the moment we've been waiting for and it's finally here. The regular season kicks off today! The chill is in the air and we run the risk of a few minor disturbances crossing the Northeast bringing the chance for rain or snow showers. Northern New England and Northern NY are in the target zone for accumulating snowfall today and tomorrow which should help them get off to a good start.
